NAPE MINI - CONFERENCE 2010
The 5th NAPE Mini-Conference 2010 for Tertiary Institutions came up 6th to 9th May, 2010 at the University of Ilorin Permanent Site, Ilorin, Kwara state, Nigeria. The theme for the conference was "Empowering Geoscientists with Entrepreneurship Skills". Lead papers was delivered by Engr. Muttaqha Rabe Darma, the Executive Secretary, PTDF and Mr. Osagie Okunbor, VP Human Resources, Shell Upstream International Sub-Sahara Africa. University of Ilorin (entrance), venue of the Mini-Conference. A congregation of young, upcoming and energetic geoscientists converged, presented and exchanged data on their interpreted projects about the Earth and its mineral resources for the benefit of mankind. UAP is the acronym for University/Polytechnic Assistance Programme. The programme was established in 1987 under the umbrella of NAPE FOUNDATION, by the Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists (NAPE), a non profit making Association. It was formarlly launched in November, 1999 in MUSON Centre, Onikan, Lagos. The programme is deeming to expressly support educational development of geoscience and environmental students, lecturers, higher Institutions and members of the Association.
What are NAPE-UAP Dreams? To see a progressive improvement and attainment of global education standard in Nigeria Tertiary Institutions. Development and production of confident, dedicated and astute geoscientists, environmentalists among our membership and affiliated bodies in conformity with Tertiary Institutions Programmes.
